Preface
I still remember an old Chinese story That my daddy told me when I was a little girl.
Long ago, in a small town on the border of China with Hun, there was an older man named Sai. One day, he lost a horse. His neighbors came to his home and tried to comfort him.
“Who knows, it isn’t good luck that I lost the horse?” Sai asked
Who’s to say losing my horse is necessarily a bad thing?” Sai smiled and asked
About a month later, the horse that he lost led many beautiful Hunish horses back home.
His neighbors came to congratulate him.
“Who knows, it isn’t bad luck!?” He looked at those sturdy wild Hun horses, frowned, and said to his neighbors
Then Sai’s son loved those substantial Hunish horses and couldn’t wait to ride one. He got thrown off the wild horse and broke his leg.
His neighbors comforted him again.
“Who knows? It isn’t good luck that broke my son’s leg,” Sai smiled and asked again.
After a year, war broke out between China and the Huns, and almost all young men were drafted to fight in the war, and many of them died in battle. Sai’s son was alive but couldn’t be a soldier because of his leg.
It.’s 2023, 2022, and the Covid-19 of virus rampage for three years.
I sold my business, which allowed me to fly to China to see my mama right before the pandemic started and flights were canceled. Good luck! I could fly back to the U.S. with my lover just in time.
Because of Covid-19, I couldn’t get another job, so I had to stay home. Bad luck!
I had time to learn how to speak and write in English. Good luck!
My first writing tutor, Jennifer, was a senior college student who volunteered to teach me. She had yet to experience teaching, so she gave me homework every week that let me write anything I liked. She was good to me.
I couldn’t go out, so I spent lots of time with my family, dog, and cat. I also wrote my first book, Bailey and Her Friends. Good luck!
“Bailey and her Friends” was my homework, and each story in the collection came from an experience I had quarantined at home because of COVID-19.
My plants and flowers started to die because squirrels were digging them up. Even so, I understood that the squirrels just wanted to hide the food for the winter. I still hope the squirrels will understand me so we can be friends, so I wrote “Met Sarah.”
Because Bailey constantly barks at crows, I always wondered what happened to them, whether because the crow gossiped to her, like some human. Because the cow always stands the branch and gua gua us. So I wrote about a crow, Michael. But no one is perfect in life, so like Michael, people can also change into friendly people. I allowed Michael to help the neighborhood, and Bailey and Michael became friends.
Because of COVID-19, we had to stay home every day. Sometimes, we were in a bad mood, like my pollen allergy. (Bad.) Let’s suffer a lot. For us who have been free, it was like being in prison.
We needed fresh air and freedom. So we drove seven hours to see my niece at Ohio University and then had a series story, “Go to Ohio.”
You can find shadows in the family as for each character’s traits or the stories that happened.
Sarah is a run-of-the-wheel person; Bailey is a schedule girl, Jackson’s philosopher face. Their black point, almost we humans had, but they have not lost their cute, lovely.
Every day, we worry about different things and are always anxious. In fact, “it’s not a matter of life and death.” maybe we “worry about missing a bus” such things,
Sometimes, we would be embarrassed to ask for help. So the pieces “Cross River” and “Hiking” would tell you to ask to help get success’s first step.
In short, after we have endured COVID-19, the 2020 presidential election, and Black Lives Matter, I hope our world can become beautiful and peaceful like Jason’s Valley farm!
Our lives are ordinary and simple every day. Still, if we experience and observe, we can always find some tune. Little fortunes are like pearls; if we collect them, we can finally make a beautiful necklace for our whole lives.
Were my Covid-19 three years good luck or bad luck?
As the old saying goes, in every crisis is an opportunity!

Jackson is Bailey’s old brother, our home’s erudite, proud, stubborn black cat and king. We cannot command him to do anything unless he wants to, but we must be there
Sara is Bailey’s best friend, a giant brown-tail squirrel who lives in our backyard. Sara is a young lady who is always busy and worries too much.
Micheal was a crow and hostile to Bailey, but later, he became Bailey’s friend and cleaning guardian of our community.
On the coldest night of one year winter, Bailey had a nightmare, her ears, eyes, nose and mouth fight each other, and left her head…
What a terrible dream

We all probably have been stupid once, and later, when we recall that, we feel ridiculous and embarrassed.
Although there is no scientific proof for ghosts today, how else would you explain how unusually the animals behaved?
I also prefer to believe they exist because when
We humans are too small compared to the universe and nature; our history is too short. We must have a heart of reverence for the universe and the elders who
To this day, I do not know if there is a mysterious connection between my friend Mei’s death and the white cat. But after that accident, I knew I must
