6. The Big Kite

At the time when the Cultural Revolution was the worst in China, on a bright and sunny spring day, a group of us kits began to make kites fly kites; then our older brothers and sisters replaced us to make real kites, and finally, our parents who because of political stand different and sew each other like enemies, also joined in and began to make kites, fly kites. The kites let us, children, forget hunger, let our parents temporarily forget the struggle with each other, forget the suffering with life. Since that day, we have nicknamed teacher Chen “the Big Kite.”
I hope our motherland: There was no Cultural Revolution again, no bad people, no “Cold War,” no sorrow, and no troubles; when our children are hungry, they have food to eat; when they feel cold, have clothes to wear. There were only kites, joy, and the warm sunshine of spring.
