1.2 Jackson

Jackosn, I loved him at first sight. He always looks cool and proud, like a king. He has such beautiful pitch-black fur and very sharp nails. He only has a little white hair under his chin, which makes him different from other cats. He has an unusual trait; even though he gently caresses him, he will drool. He had a bad temper; if he slept next to us, we couldn’t talk; otherwise, he would throw a temper tantrum and walk away with an angry voice. So sometimes, I named him an old man.
Yes, Jackson is a very proud and stubborn cat. He is a prince in our home. We cannot order him to do what we want. He only does what he wants to do.
For example, when we see him outside, we open the door and call for him to come in, but he ignores us until he wants to go back home. If Jackson decides to go out, I must open the door immediately. If I don’t listen to him, he will keep calling me loudly until I open the door for him. Sometimes, I feel I am his footman.
Maybe he knows I love him, so he thinks he can order me to do anything he wants. He’s like a human being and knows his lover will do anything for him.
Bailey continuously blinks her big, watery eyes to beg for what she wants. Her eyes would soften your heart, so you cannot say no.
Jackson never begs us for anything. When he wants something, he sits there like a prince and looks at us pridefully until we notice him. Alternatively, Jackson loudly orders me. He even bumps me with his head impatiently until I put down the things I am working on to do what he wants.
Jackson is mostly a quiet, good boy, but sometimes he makes us crazy. He brings mice home, which is intolerable. He also kills birds, especially the beautiful ones!
One day, we saw him back home with a red thing in his mouth. When we discovered it was a Cardinalis, we screamed and rescued the poor bird from Jackson’s sharp claws. Her red plumage was trembling slightly, and her eyes stared in horror. The little one must have been terrified.
We are unfortunate for Jackson. We don’t dare to put a bird feeder in our backyard because we fear it would help Jackson hunt. But we know he is a cat; that is his natural animal instinct, and we must forgive him. All I can do is feed him more and never let him get hungry. He’s getting fat, but at least the birds are safe.
I always try to be soft and warm when I talk or do anything to Jackson. We also cut his nails regularly. I hope he knows he is a cat with love and a home.
We love him. We also love the beautiful birds. What can we do?
I have had a few cats in my life. But Jackson is the most special one. Sometimes, when I watch him, I wonder what he thinks and what he has been through before I met him.
Then, one day, I heard him and Bailey chatting.
